Shown on this video are the faces in the background of "The Bucket List"photo. I didn't even realize they were there until Frank D & Rene S made comments about it in the previous posting.
This video was presented during our grand reunion...in memory of classmates and friends who has been without us...
Picture show our beloved teachers who attended the grand reunion...each of them received a "bucket of appreciation" from us. ;-)
From left: Mrs. Rueda, Mrs. Cruz, Mrs. Roberto, Mrs. Hipolito, Mrs. Arellano, Mrs. Paguio, Sir Ed V, Mr & Mrs. Espinosa, and Miss Pacecho.
"When he closed his eyes, his heart was opened..." from the movie, The Bucket List
Corprate billionaire Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) and working class mechanic Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman) have nothing in common except for their terminal illnesses. While sharing a hospital room together, they decide to leave it and do all the things they have ever wanted to do before they die according to their bucket list. In the process, both of them heal each other, become unlikely friends, and ultimately find the joy in life.
For those of you who are not aware, our batch has a new program being implemented starting this year. It's a very simple concept and very affordable to everyone, I hope!
So as not to make it too much of a burden, we've decided to make it easy for all of you to participate. This program allow everyone to make a monthly minimum contribution/donation of 50 pesos to our now depleted funds.
Well, for some who can afford more than that, or perhaps would prefer to give a lump sum contribution as it is much easier for them, of course that is more than welcome!
The money collected will be used to fund our future projects, be it sending deserving kids to school, making charitable contributions, maybe help build a library, etc etc....
Now, why did I say 50/50?
Well, my previous challenge to you all is still on the table, if you can still remember it! Awhile back when we first started doing the fund collections for the grand reunion, I offered to match your contributions, within specified limits. None of you really took my challenge for some reasons and so I'm rescinding it and replace with a new one.
For every 50 pesos local contributions, I will match 50%** of it. Hence, the 50/50.
Saint Dominic Academy Class of 1978 & Pulilan Central School Class of 1974 held a successful grand reunion last December 29th & 30th, 2007.
After such a wonderful event, Batch '78 will again be co-hosting the annual SDA reunion come December 2008, our 30th year.
For those of you who missed the grand reunion, this is your opportunity to make up for it. I supposed you've seen/heard what you've missed when you didn't come the last time? With all the pictures and a rare video of us singing and making a fool of ourselves, how could you just sit there, watch, and laugh all by yourself when you should have been there all along enjoying it with us?
The SDA class of 1978 is calling all its member to participate and be part of a tradition. It is a tradition that joins every alumni of our beloved alma mater in searching for a common goal...
Sir Ed V is leading the effort to make this event a special one with of course help from each & everyone of us. Knowing his artistic skills and wild imaginations, you'd better damn make sure you're around when the time comes to showcase what he's got for every SDA alumni to see.
Many of us had a chance to experience that tradition last December and suffice it to say we enjoyed every minute of it just seeing old & new faces, wandering the old campus, and once again feel like its more than a home...
...it's our sanctuary!
Please try not to miss it this time because if you do, you'll regret it the rest of your lives...
And that's not a threat my dear batchmates...
...it's a promise!
But like I always remind everyone, this isn't just a party but also a chance to stimulate our hearts & minds to think, become more proactive and be more socially responsible. We all know it's not easy and there's a lot more than just me blaberring about it.
You can't do it yourself..I can't do it myself...But we can do it together! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Here are the pics taken at Shangri-la Hotel, days prior to the grand reunion with Noel A & family hosting it...all pics from Asprec's lens...
Here's a picture of all the attendees of the Grand Reunion...from Noel Asprec's lens.
Well...not quite full monty!
Not in the picture were classmates & teachers who arrived kinda late for the scheduled "kodakan"or must have gone to the powder room for that much-needed...well....powder. hehehhe...
At least a dozen faces were not in the group picture: Guadalupe E, Juanita M, Mrs Arellano, Clarita R, Norberto R, Julieta J, Greg C, Mrs. Espinosa, Mr. Espinosa, Isabelita L, Ms Pacheco, Dolores V, and 3 more I honestly can't recall the names but their faces are familiar.
I'm dying to know the names of these 2 faces above: between Consuelo G & Tetchie S......and that lady in pink, in front of Anabel B, bottom pic.
The Paperbox couple Orly & Racquel during their visit to USA recently with their family. I showed them our grand reunion pics during their stop at my house...
They feel bad not being able to share the day with all of us as they were wandering all over USA from Chicago to LAs Vegas to LA, enjoying the glow, the show, and the snow. ;-)
We were at Amie S house too later that day with Ogie.
The grand reunion went really well. If i'm not mistaken, about 80 or so of your classmates & teachers attended, inclusive of member from PCS batch '74.
Though it didn't actually go exactly as outlined in the programme, it all turned out good, to say the least.
What we didn't get a chance to do is to discuss seriously how we can make it all worthwhile having another reunion. We didn't get to fully discuss possible social projects that is relevant and/or particularly helpful to deserving individuals, if not for the entire community.
That reunion is purpose-driven and is not meant for just merry-making. Yes, we all had a great time singing, dancing, eating, & drinking but I hope we didn't lose sight of our primary objective.
As I think about what just transpired during that day, it really dawned on me how hard it is to keep focus and be consistent with our goals.
Well? I hope we can keep the momentum going...
Voluntary donations to our collection fund hopes to continue. As I say, "Without the fund, there will be no fun."
PS>> Reunion Funds:Total Collections= P135,673.92; Total Expenses= P133,412.57; Remaining Funds= P2,261.35. Please let me know if you are interested to see full details of collections & expenses and I'll be glad to email it to you.
Registration started with a surprising early appearance by Lamberto N which from what I've been told never was the anxious one to attend such a gathering. The event started as scheduled with Fr. Ex leading the mass. Egay D read through the special prayer sent by Fr. Ces via email.
Soon after the mass, the never-ending "kumustahan" started again with more people arriving. Obet S said his welcome remarks well, narrating a few old elem stories while Egay D was overwelmed & speechless with his so he just let the video "Handog" do the talking. Joey M said his welcome piece with more flares and convictions as usual.
Teachers from both sides, elem & hs, also said a few words. It started with Mrs. Rueda, Mrs. Cruz, Mrs. Paguio, Mrs. Roberto, and Mrs. Hipolito. Mrs. Arellano came a bit late for the opening salvo but she managed to say a few words later. Ms. Tamayo, Ms. Pachecho, Mrs. Espinosa, and of course Sir Ed V also said a few words after.
Soon after, the "kodakan" moment began with all the female attendees getting ready on stage for the once-in-a-lifetime shot while the males facing them did something I could not explain but brought a lot of laughters from everyone.
A group hug of all attendees ensued short after, with everyone doing their best to keep their sanity in place.
More "kumustahan" follows as we began to feast on the food catered by none other than Precy D. As expected, everyone spent more time talking and high-five'ing and you can't blame them. It's been 30 years or more...you know!
Fine wine brought by AussieNoel A all the way from down under was raised in a special toast led by Sir Ed V.
Then all the kids started playing....
...ang singing.... ...and dancing...
And raffle drawings in between, led by Noel A who was gracious enough to provide the giveways.
An unexpected appearance by Julieta J brought some cheers and consolations as she managed to attend even though she is mourning the death of her father the night before.
A few of the attendees arrived late but their presence were all well noted and appreciated. Juanita "Neneng" Manalo all the way from Aparri was there to grace the event and so was Guadalupe Esguerra.
The night didn't end there as there were more singing...
...and a little bit of drinking...
...and more dancing & singing.
Of course, everyone left with good memories, smiles on their faces, and gifts & souvenirs courtesy of Zen T (yummy chocolates), Egay D (tote bag with towel), Noel A (wines & lots of prizes & giveaways), reunion T-shirts and wine glass with logo from the collected funds.
Unfortunately, the souvenir newsletter I've prepared for distribution didn't materialize as we had some issues with the printing.
However, production of said newsletter is still on-going with more pictures of the event to be added, while full-length DVD is also being considered for distribution.
Minimal fee to cover the production expenses will be charged to anyone interested in acquiring copies of said newsletter and/or DVD.
Fees collected will be added to our remaining funds for future projects.
