Katekista po ako!

This was the common scene when we were doing the schools’ outreach program, Cathechism. I think meron din yata sa Longos or Sto. Cristo. While teaching the younger fellows, we were also learning ourselves from the experience. One is the substance ng ating itinuturo, the methods of teaching, the way to handle (younger) people, public speaking and self-discipline. Not only these, marami pa, depending on how you look and feel about it.
Teaching young people is no kidding at all. Responsibilities and commitment were part of it. Di lang pang-glamour, but the thought of opening, building and encouraging young minds to the Christian way of life is itself a challenge. Bakit nga ba tayo nag-commit on becoming a “katekista”, while we can do some other things? It is because we already embodied to ourselves part of the universal teachings of the Catholic church; social responsibility and pastoral commitment to other people. That is what we got from our school. Our school had transformed us to becoming a living catalyst sa mga bagong sibol na kaisipan.
Nowadays, there will be this PASKA (PAmparokyang SAmahan ng mga KAtekista) organized in each parish, doing the teachings. I just don’t know if St. Dominic still doing the same. I just hope so. It will make and bring up worthwhile, sensible and righteous persons.
And I always have an answer...
...."Katekista po ako!”

hello batchmates!
Rene, I believe sa Longos or Cutcot ako na-assign noon. I look forward to it even though it meant extra work. It's a good feeling to nourish the kids' minds with prayers and our religious beliefs. These kids looked up to us.

It's my way of giving back in a way. Sabi nga kung mayroon kang kaalaman na puedeng pakinabangan ng iba, why not share, right? That's exactly what I did and I'm glad I did it.
God bless you all!
