Bayanihan Spirit
Last Saturday I had the rare opportunity to watch our very own world-renowned "Bayanihan" dance group. The cultural show was hosted by the city where I work and helped raise funds for a new medical clinic in Sariaya, Quezon.
The show really brought back some good memories of our high school life as I remember being part of the "Junior Knights of Columbus" performing similar dance numbers like "sayaw sa bangko" and many more during town fiestas.
I can't even believe I was once part of that performing arts. Actually, many of us were. We were all together at one time!
Simple lang ang needs natin nuon. Masaya, may layunin, may pagkaka-isa!
But now that we've grown apart, of course, na-iba na! We all have our own different needs...emotionally, spiritually, physically, and financially. Some may have more needs than others and our missions in life maybe different, or some share the same.
But I don't think we've lost all that spirit even after many years apart. We can still bring back the good ol' times, if only we could try.
One batch, one vision!
I know...it's easy for me to say! But the thing is, we all know we can do anything if we do it together...you and me!
However, as it stands right now, it will take a gargantuan effort just to bring everybody back to the same place where we once shared dreams.
The planning of this reunion is just a simple test for each one of us. Some are determined, some are scared. Some are well aware of it, some are just plainly clueless. Some just play it by ears, and some just simply ignore it.
oh well, different strokes for different folks!

we can compare the preparations being done simply with the parable of the "maghahasik". I don't have my bible with me right now, but it stayed in my memory. Often times it is the subject of the church when it comes to the kind of believers Christians were. As it goes, some of the seeds were sown in the stony road, the birds came and eat. Some of the seeds were sown in the "madawag na lugar", it started to grow but was being overtaken by the "dawags" and died.
Some seeds were sown on the sandy soil, it grows, have leaves but wilted due to the absence of water. Some of the seeds were sown in a very fertile soil, it grows, nourished and bear fruits.
Probably, we have classmates who already knew of the plans and the preparations but just kept an eye on it. Although, some of them are wiling to help, some forces deep inside them were telling them to do otherwise. Each and everyone have reasons "to go" and "not to go". Organizers have to understand and analyze the "reasons behind" for both choices.
yes anonymous, that's so true! it's all a personal choice...however, whether you like it or not, you're a part of it, even if you are not around to actually participate and witness it.
"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one, I hope someday you will join us, and the world will live as one." --John Lennon (Imagine)
toodles! ;-)
i don't think we really need to understand the reason behind, we just need to accept them as they are.
Acceptance, that's the key! No expectations because if there are, there will be disappointments.
Cheers my friends! Keep smiling!
