In Memoriam

UPDATED: AUGUST 31, 2006

I just learned that Connie Geronimo's father passed away yesterday at the age of 74. In case you didn't know, Connie's father is a brother of my mother, amy's mother, and ogie's father; and a close relative to Ed S.

Our thoughts and prayers to Connie G and her family.

=================================================

I know we have few of our classmates and teachers who have gone on to "a better place". And I think you will all agree that a tribute to them is in order.

And how do we do that?

To start with, if anyone has any pictures of our teachers and classmates who have gone ahead of us to join the Almighty, please send them to me.

If you so happen to know or live close by to any of their relatives, perhaps you can ask them to provide one or more pictures, old and/or new. A quick note would also be of help, of when they actually departed.

Also, now is the time for all of you to send any other pictures you might have of you, your family, pets or what have you. I will be including all of them in creating a lasting memento. Be it something like the one I featured here ... or something else!

Please send as many pictures as you want, especially of the old days.

I know it can be a lot of work for you to scan old pics but think of the lasting memories it will create once I've got them and included in a souvenir CD or a yearbook maybe.

Now that's a lot of work for me!...but I am not complaining. ;-)

Anything that will remember us all by...

Match Me If You Can

UPDATED: AUGUST 29, 2006

The list of names & pictures you're looking at is not an ad for MATCH.COM, HARMONY.com, or any online dating like that. For all we know, most if not all are living blissfully with their respective spouses, partners, kids, or what have you.

However, there is a possibility that some may still be available for romance if you're interested. But there's only one way to find out...be there at the reunion. ;-)
Click here to view full size image
What I am trying to do is match the names with the faces of all our klasmeyts and here's where I encountered serious eye/memory problem. hehehe.....

We've matched most of them except for these 8 names and/or 7 photos listed.

Needless to say, I need a lot of help from all of you to figure this one out....

Basically, what I would like you to do is match the NUMBERED names with the ALPHABETIZED photos. Just tell me in the simpliest form your results.

Example: 1 is X; 2 is Y; 3 is Z...or something like that!

Please click on the images to get a clear view of the list.

Also, if you could come up with the missing names/photos, please let me know. I don't want anyone to get pissed at me for not including them.

I really want my perfect match.....don't you? ;-)

PS>> Special thanks to Rene San Andres for helping out in this process. He single-handedly worked on many in the original list and trim it down to just a few.

Who's that girl?

I know that if I just start something , things will begin to roll.

And so far so good.....

Here's an idea for a souvenir item for the reunion. What about a yearbook, once suggested by Ogie. It would be nice to have a list of all alumni with more recent updated pictures of each one of us.

Hence the question "who's that girl?" in an email I sent y'all.

Here's the answer I got so far.....

"Luiza's maiden name is Salvador. I can't recognize the last one."

"I believe the 2nd one is Isabelita Leonardo."

"GRABE KA ED, di ba si Luisa Salvador yan, tapos yung nasa baba si Yolanda Sangil, naklaimutan ko yung isa..."

"kakahiya ka - that's Luisa Salvador, Beth Leonardo, and hmmm (kakahiya din pala ako) i forgot the 3rd one."

"unk 2 is isabelita leonardo"

None of us, except for one (you know who you are), came up with all the right names. (...I am assuming tama kasi nga I have no idea....)

I am the worst offender....I can't really put a name to any of the three...

Do you see a pattern here?

Since we never really had a yearbook, why not try creating one...30 years after?

thy Kingdom come

Renato San Andres @ King Abdul Aziz Port, Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Did you know that back in the 80's, Valentino Esguerra & myself also worked in the kingdom, in the capital city Riyadh?

That was my very first real job right after college, as a structural draftsman; and first trip out of the country, from 1985-88.

You could imagine how young we both were to be working & living in a place like that. Brutal folks...brutal!

But there were also some interesting & exciting "stuff" I don't think you'll ever imagine in a desert place as such!

That's where I grew up and experienced everything...and I mean EVERYTHING!

You can ask Valentino E what I meant (wink wink)...or maybe Rene S have some ideas (another wink) .....;-)

Dear Ms. Laniog

Dear Ms. Laniog,

Nagmamahal,

Edgardo G. David

Bumper Stickers

Someone e-mailed this list to me. These are bumper stickers you'll sometimes find in cars. Of all the years I've been driving, I've encountered a few of them.

I could use a good laugh sometimes...;-)

On Life & People

- Ever stop to think, and forget to start again?
- I used to have a handle on life, but I broke it.
- I took an IQ test and the results were negative.
- God must love stupid people, he made so many.
- I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing.
- I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
- Elvis is dead, and I'm not feeling too good myself.
- Some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them.
- I must be a Proctologist because I work with a***holes.
- Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.
- Don't take life too seriously, you won't get out alive.

On Women, Relationship, and Sex

- So you're a feminist...Isn't that cute!
- Remember my name - You'll be screaming it later.
- The sex was so good that even the neighbors had a cigarette.
- If You Think I'm A Bitch, You should have met my mother!
- Wanted: Meaningful overnight relationship.
- To all you virgins, thanks for nothing.
- I don't have to be dead to donate my organ.
- I know what you're thinking, and you should be ashamed of yourself.

oh well....Give me ambiguity or give me something else ;-)

Tinimbang ka ngunit sobra!

'yan si Marcy (aka Christopher), nakatayo, kasama nang iba pa n'yong klasmeyts (Felix M, Ariel D, Egay D, Jun B, & Raffy L) habang nagsasaya during a town fiesta. Maybe not all of you remember him but he's very visible & active nowadays, promoting our grand reunion.

He's a good guy, sobrang makisama. You'll find him sa kanilang family-owned steakhouse...next to Max's of Pulilan.

St. Dominic's Day

August 8th is our high school Alma Mater's day. The time of the year we celebrate the feast of our patron saint.

This is also the time of the year when our batch always dominates the school event with great performances in the annual competition.

It's funny I don't even remember the actual performances. I only remember the fact that even when we were freshmen, we beat everybody with our inspiring show of skills & talent.

Was it called gymnastics/dance competition or something else? Do they still have it nowadays?

Basta ang alam ko, every year during high school, we always get the top place in the annual event.

Ganun tayo ka-espesyal back then!

We had that innate characteristic envied by many. We were always there joined hand in hand proudly trying to accomplish things together, in solidarity. Lagi tayong masaya at may pagkaka-isa.

Eh ngayon, espesyal pa rin ba tayo?

Quick Note: Susan R (5000 pesos) & Lilia S (~5400 pesos) made their contributions to our fun fund last week. Thanks to all who already made their contributions. And to those still have not, ano pa hinihintay n'yo, Pasko? ;-)

July 29th Meeting

Where: Eva's Place

Who's there: Felix M, Eva F, Annabelle T, Rowena C, Marcy D, Claire R, Ester D, & Germie N, Egay D (online)

What about: Reunion Follow-up Meeting

Issue about the need to form a reunion committee was brought up again, this time by Claire R. I've raised this issue before during our first meeting back in April.

I reiterated again, at the very least, we should have a chairman, a co-chairman, treasurer, and a couple of volunteers. The main issue is who will be the chairman/co-chairman. I onced suggested Joey M to be the one and co-chair by Rolando Santos, representing the Elementary.

We already have a Treasurer in Eva F. & Claire R., and also some volunteer members like Germie N.

Another topic discussed was the status of our fund. Eva updated the attendees on who already made their donations. Marcy D suggested a monthly dues until the scheduled reunion.

Also talked about are classmates who might need financial help. They all agreed to loan out if there's available money, preferably a loan without interest but if borrower insist, a minimal interest will be charged.

Issue? Who is going to decide which case deserves a nod to go ahead and release the funds. Not to mention, what protocols to follow when loaning someone.

It isn't that so simple my dear classmates!

And that's why the more reason we really need to form a committee.

In reality, we are all members of this committee. But the elected officers will be the forefront, not only in deciding the fun stuff! Serious matters also come to them to tackle, review and analyze...and all alumni members will be there to agree or disagree with them.

Our intention for this reunion is not just to have fun. We also wanted to make a difference.

Do you get the theme here? We "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'"

To help our classmates perhaps in their struggles for life, in their quest for a more decent living, in their dire financial needs.

It's a small step for us to make and be part of their lives. I know it's scary and can be pretty ambitious, if you think about it. But if we all in it together, for sure we can do it!

Next meeting is tentatively set on Aug. 13th, 2006. It's between Ester D (aug. 12) & Joey M's (Aug. 14) 27th anniversary of their 18th birthday. Sounds better di ba? hehehe....
