Maño y Maño

They're like the Blues Brothers...Joey & Dominic. Pero mag-pinsan lang sila!

I last saw Joey when my father passed away and I had to go back to our hometown barely a week or so after I just had my vacation there. I was so glad and appreciative to see both him and Lito V, they were at my father's funeral. We hooked up a few days later for drinks with some of our classmates before I went back to the US.

Joey was and is always been a leader. I admire his leadership skills, his initiative, his unpretentious way of dealing with situations...very animated...
very vocal...very opinionated.

Dominic. What can i say? The "Don Juan deMarco" of our batch. Damn good-looking just like his cousin but more dangerous...no offense Joey. :-) Women fall for him...and not just because of his pretty face. He's got good character too! I think because of his oozing confidence. But he's cool! Where is he anyway? I heard he's in the US too!

They are the Maño's.... nephews of the more famous aunt, our dreaded principal in grade school. Oh i'm sure some of you remember her!

Wam Bam Thank You Mam...& Sir!

Marami sila! There's Mrs. Arellano, Mrs. Roberto, Mrs. Paguio, among the grade school teachers na naaalala ko. Sa high school, andyan si Ms. Laniog, Ms. Cruz, Mr. & Mrs. Espinosa, Ms. Nimer, Ms. Pacheco, Mr. Villarante, at kung sino-sino pa.

Naalala mo pa ba sila?

Siguro may paborito kayong teacher? O kaya naman, you had a teacher you hated so much ...hmmmm...hate is such a strong word! Let me re-phrase it...someone you dislike for some reason?

Or maybe you had someone you actually like "like" during high school despite the fact that it was such a taboo then, and even now, ang ganung relationship? You know what I'm talking about...teacher & student getting "groovy" ;-)

I didn't know of any girl classmate engaging in something like that. Pero sa mga boys, a few of us did play the same funky music together with the teacher...if you know what I mean. ;-)

Those were the days my dear klasmeyts! It really brings a smile in me everytime I recall those wonderful memories.

Hey, it's not like I had my own special "private tutor" back then to say "Well Hello, Mrs. Robinson". I wished!!! hahaha

Mi Casa, Su Casa?

I think we've got the place for the most anticipated reunion of the century.

This house was built in 30 A.D. --that's After saint Dominic :-) It's a contemporary place with an Olympic-sized pool for the geeks...err...
Greeks. A jacuzi for the woosy...rooms with mountain views and nice comfortable beds for the sleepy heads, a surround-sound system to dance the night away, humongous plasma-tv for the weary, and all the first-class amenities you will find in a topnotch resort...with Dory's personal touch to top it all!

Hindi ito bahay ko! This is a guesthouse owned by your classmate Dory F. and it will be yours for a day or two...if you join us in the fun! So make your reservation now and be part of this exciting moment...a once in a lifetime event you really don't wanna miss.

Anong masasabi mo klasmeyt, should we book this "casa" now?

Overall, the place is wonderful. A brand-new guesthouse with everything that you need. Tamang-tama 'to sa reunion natin!

Bata, Bata, Paano Ka Ginawa?

Thirty years ago, we didn't dare think about all these. Well, for most of us yes, but for a couple of our klasmeyts who got married right after high school, I think they knew what they were getting into...even at that very young age.

I'm really happy for them.

You've all seen my unica hija in my earlier posting, remember?...angel of mine... raisin in my muffin... booger in my nose... mana sa ama? :-))

Paano naman yung sa inyo? It would be nice kung makita rin namin ang fruits of your labor...in bed, or wherever the case maybe! Malay ko, it could be in the shower, in the kitchen floor, on top of the washing machine, or in the backseat of a car... hahaha...

Anyway, can you tell me whose kids are these anyway? For most of us, there's really nothing excites us more than the presence of kids in our lives.

We know how proud you all are with your kids, so an excellent suggestion was made by one of your classmate that you all email me your kid's pics, i'll post it here, then let all of you guess kung sino ang ama and/or ina nila.

Sounds like fun to me!

Will You Be My Valentine Then?

During our high school days, di ko na-experience magka-valentina sa campus natin. Kahit kunwa-kunwarian lang, wala din! In other words, wala akong naging ka-love team sa mga klasmeyts natin.

The day of cholocates, flowers, and a romantic dinner. The day it will be revealed the Victoria's Secret...in a box!

For some guys who could afford it, a new "friend" for his ol' lady...you know, that crystal-clear thing called, i think diamond? An option perhaps is an overnight stay at some 5-star hotel or maybe a 3-day getaway to an island somewhere in the Pacific.

Isn't that romantic?

Yes indeedee do! But for some couples , only a chocnuts/flowers from Quiapo/McDo dinner combo is much more realistic but a lot more romantic.

You know what I'm talking about! The day where places with such names are really quite busy because they are more affordable and "privately" accessible. It's a place where you can actually see yourself and the whole world...thru mirrors. :-))

At bakit ko alam yan? It's a common knowledge my dear klasmeyts and if you don't know about it, it's either you are too naive or it just confirmed my earlier statement...you were never once my valentine!...hahaha...nagbibiro lang po! :-)

Either which way you spend it, it's still the day of extra-lovin'!

Happy V-Day all!

and finally...No. 1 Reason Why You Should Attend the Reunion

- Attendance is Mandatory, Contribution is Voluntary.

While we are hoping that all alumni members will come to this very special event, however, alam naman natin na hindi lahat ay maka-afford to make donations/contributions to help cover the expenses that will be incurred as we celebrate this momentous event.

But by the same token, for those of you who are capable of opening up their "hearts" & "wallets" a little bit more than the others, we will appreciate it very much if you do so. How about considering that as your gift to the class?

Donations and contributions are definitely welcome, be it CASH, GOODIES, SOUVENIR items, or what have you.

We plan to give away lots of game and door prizes...AND more importantly, special gifts for those who are in need. So every little things, cents & pennies, are very much needed!

We will even provide a T-shirt with our very own logo, for everybody to wear on the day of the event. Just make sure to wear something comfy like jeans or shorts to match the shirt...nothing fancy!

We will be at your door if at the day of the event di pa rin kayo convinced na dapat kasama namin kayong nagsasaya. No exceptions!

PS: Oo nga pala! Guys bring 2 items; "bote at pulutan" and ladies, bring 2-piece or 1-piece. Huwag lang no piece ah?...baka ma-eskandalo tayo...;-)

ayos?

Samson & d'Lilia

In light of the tragedy that happened recently in ULTRA, I'd like to say a prayer to those who died! Indeed it was a tragedy that could have been easily avoided.

Anyway, Wowowie!!! That's the first word I utterred when I saw this picture. I was talking about the beautiful flowers on the background...hehehe.

Seriously, Lilia looks so pretty, hip & cool. Parang hindi tumanda ah! She's like sweet wine, so fine habang tumatagal. ;-)

It's a good thing "Samson" is not invited to the reunion because I'm sure guys would like to get near "d'Lilia"! hahaha

Angel of Mine

When I first saw you I already knew
There was something inside of you
Something I thought that I would never find
Angel of Mine

I look at you looking at me
Now I know why they say the best things are free
Gonna love you girl you are so fine
Angel of Mine

-Monica

Many friends and relatives wondered why I only have one kid. Of course, to have a son would be nice...para ma-ikalat ko naman ang "lahi ni David" sa 'merika... :-)

Her name is Angela Rose...angel of mine....she'll be turning 10 next month...the love of my life....the raisin in my muffin...the sprinkle in my cupcake...the apple in my pie...the booger in my nose...hehehe.

I really love the way I was able to capture the sun hiding behind the clouds, and my daughter suddenly appeared from nowhere. The one & only daughter that I have...as far as I know! ;-)

Photo taken while enjoying the sun, the sand and a well-deserved R&R, a surprised gift to my wife on her birthday, at the famous Hotel Del Coronado San Diego, California.

Kano?

Now that I think about it, bakit nga ba tinawag na "kano" si Cesar D.?

I don't really have any idea at all why....

anybody?

Dear St. Dominic

I've always wanted to write to you since after I've spent my last few remaining days in your cradle on that scorching heat of summer of 1978.

I would like to thank you for all the things you've done to me.

Four years of stay with you taught me a lot about the ABC's of life. You witnessed my subtle existence, my growth as an individual, and the challenges and endeavors I faced along the way. You were there walking side by side with me while I feel the growing pains of learning life's formula and the foundation on how I should live.

What I am now, you were the one who defined my limitations, my values, my ethics, as well as my knowledge of who I should be or what i'm capable of becoming.

Without you, I could be nothing. Without you I could be somewhere else oblivious of the harsh realities of life. Without you, I wouldn't be here enjoying the fruits of my labor, the results of my struggles to understand the agreement between reality and it's subject...that life is a battle...that life is a journey worth taking.

Yes, there were lots of pains, but there was also hope.

After four years you gave me the freedom to go out there with enough convictions and tools to face new challenges. The end of my stay with you also marked the beginning of another with someone...to continue with what you have started..to learn the rest of the alphabet from D to Z... after you lovingly taught me life's ABC.

Thirty years ago I wouldn't be able to say all these things. I didn't have yet the full wisdom that I have now. The time spent with you had long ended, and had started on a different journey a long time ago. But I continued to live strongly and confidently, every moment of every day... even without you.

Nowadays, "carpe diem" has become a daily reflection to me...seize the pleasures of the moment without concern for the future anymore. Because I am now in the future we both dreamed 30 years ago.

...and I thank you!

Sincerely,
egay

The world is an apple

Dito nanalo nang best actress si Digna B for her portrayal of the wife.

"Mario, is this what you mean by another job?...oh mario...."

Of all the plays shown, ito ang paborito ko sa lahat. I've always wanted to play the part of Mario, the husband. It was one of my frustrations in high school. Di ako napili to play any part sa mga acts. :-)

"Honesty, is this what you call honesty? Living in this dungeon you call a house? Honesty!!!"

That's something I never knew until I did some research on it.

Written in English, "The world is an apple" is about the struggling but surviving residents of the Manila slums. "I was attracted to the theme,” said Florentino, “because I lived the life that my characters live.”

It is now more than 50 years old and is considered one of the most translated, adapted and produced plays by a Filipino playwright. It won top place in the prestigious Carlos Palanca Memorial Award, while "Cadaver" won the 2nd runner-up.

At a very young age that I was, "The World is an Apple" opened my eyes to life's harsh realities. So inspiring!
