"Gawad Kalinga"
Recently, I was introduced to the "Gawad Kalinga" program while attending a party hosted by a Fil-Am group.

By their own definition,
Gawad Kalinga (in English,
"giving care") is an integrated, sustainable, holistic program, which aims to address poverty in the Philippines by transforming and empowering poor communities through its various programs.
One of the programs I'm interested in is the
"GK Balikbayani Build". It's basically a hands-on experience of the true essence of Gawad Kalinga thru participation in the bayanihan effort of building houses in many target areas.

At first you would think it's just about building houses for the poor but in reality it's more than that....
it's actually about building a community..jpg)
I realized that since
every year I visit our homeland for a much-needed vacation, I thought it would be nice to experience joining with other
balikbayan participants in their effort of giving back to
less-fortunate communities of our country. It's also another way for me to visit places I've never seen before.
How much fun is that?If you are interested or you need more information about it, just click

congratz , the spirit of sharing , caring , nation building is in you. pinoy hospitality in its true form. charity begins at home , & our country , is our own home. sabi nga , walang ibang unang mamamalasakit kundi tayo rin, but inspiring enough to know other people from other countries is involved in this beautiful & meaningfull program. a briton sells his two sports car & donated all the sums in building 80 homes here in bulacan , sana nga , kahit isa , batch 78 can build one too, again sharing our 3 T's, time , talent ,& treasure.HELLO, BATCHMATES , GODBLESS ALWAYS !
Good on you mate. Sharing what you have to those people in need make a big difference in life. I did the same thing by donating a small amt. to Gawad Kalinga thru a close family friend a few months ago. We organised a party w/ the proceeds to GK.
Hi klasmeyts, Gooday!
my son oliver john, panganay ko kay olive , he heh he ! was able to participate in actual building on site as part of the team chosen by their company , trend micro, with them are students & co-workres from taiwan , even the owner of the said company was so impressed & touched by the gawad kalinga program that he decided to donate the equivalent of fund able to build hundred or more houses in mindanao. to my son , it was truly an expirience as he see those other from affluent families taking part in building a house as it will be turned into a home by the recipient.with this project , he was able to see how the rich , able & capable work together with the poor , the less fortunate, yet as one , in unison , of common dream & aspiration somehow work hand in hand as one family . as the song goes by , "walang sinuman ang nabubuhay para sa sarili lamang" godbless us all daer batchmates!
