2005: A year in review

This year brought about a lot of not-so-good news with natural disasters here, there and everywhere. The effect of tsunami in Asia, earthquake in Afghanistan, and hurricane Katrina here in the US, to mention a few, really made 2005 the worst year I've ever seen. On a personal level, this year also marked the loss of two people in my family due to illness.

However, there are also some good news that we'd rather talk about instead. One of them is the planning of a grand reunion, high school & elementary!

Last April trip to Pulilan helps stir interests and bring about the idea of another reunion. Meeting with former classmates Felix M, Joey M, Ruffy L, Marcy D, Lito V and Noel N, over various sumptous "pulutan" and the usual SanMig beer went well. A very exciting moment indeed as it was the first time I had a chance to meet with them and talked about the old times, good & bad. Discussions also included the 25th reunion we had that some of us missed. Soon after I came back to USA, it hit me to start creating a website for our next reunion. Although I am not the computer savvy some people migh think, the initial attempt went well as I have gotten the attention of some of our classmates I have not heard in a long time (Zeny T, Lilia S, Elisa A, Eva F, Racquel E, Digna B, Susan R, Editha B, Frank D, Orly G) With the help of them, including Ogie G who I talk to on a regular basis as he is just nearby, I was able to come up with ideas I can post on the web for everyone to see.

As you could see in our website, some old and new pictures have been provided for your viewing pleasure and hopefully catch the attention of more of our classmates and convince them to attend. The website have been revised since then, delivering it in a blog form so it allows everyone to post their comments, share their ideas, or just say hi.

By the time I get to visit Pulilan again maybe sometime in the next few months, I hope more classmates will be aware of the website and our plan of having the best reunion ever. Although details of the reunion are still being ironed out as it's still in the early planning stage, interests are so high now. If you have any ideas, pictures, stories or information that can be useful to the success of our reunion, please be prepared to give them to me as I will be personally seeing you, hopefully soon.

In the meantime, please continue with your participation, be it by posting comments here, emailing me of your old pictures, or spreading the news to other classmates in every which way you can.

While 2005 maybe the worst year for some of us, 2006 looks very promising! A new year, a new life, a new hope, a new attitude is sometimes all we need. I suggest we not dwell on the past and move on. Let the experiences of 2005 give us the wisdom and the courage to face whatever challenges we might encounter from here on.

Happy New Year!

Hi, I guess one way to be in touch with everybody and for them to know our plans of having a reunion would be to get their adresses from sda and send each of them a letter informing them of our website and our reunion. I'm sure their relatives are still there even when most of them have migrated somewhere. What do you think?
